After researching iconic periods of design, I was presented with the task of creating holiday cards—graphical and typographical—that used identifiable characteristics from the design period of Art Deco. Using imagery common in this design period, such as a sophisticated sense of glamour and fashion, elongated bodies, flat colors, and decorative borders, I created graphics for the fronts of cards that effectively captures elements of the 1920s. The typographical cards were created after looking through typefaces of the time period and selected already existent type and creating some hand-done type to display a timeless separate holiday narratives, making the cards relevant to both contemporary and past time periods.
